How much is it to play at Grass Hoppers?
Entry to Grass Hoppers will be charged at £3.50 per child with under 1s free of charge. Adults do not pay for entry. Once in Grass Hoppers, children are free to play on all activities including jumping pillow and trim trail. Ride-on cars and diggers are coin-operated.
Is there any indoor play?
There is no indoor play available, only a small amount of indoor seating in the family-friendly café.
Is there a loyalty card or discount available?
Yes, with a Grass Hoppers loyalty card, you’re 7th play is free! Simply get your card stamped just 6 times and your 7th play is free for one child! You’ll receive a stamp for each paying child playing.
Will childminders get discounted play?
We welcome childminders at Grass Hoppers and to enjoy 50p off the entry fee per child before 10am on weekdays in term time, simply show your Ofsted registration when you visit, and take advantage of Grass Hoppers Loyalty Card.
When is Grass Hoppers open?
Grass Hoppers is open daily from March to October:
Monday to Saturday: 9am to 5pm
Sunday: 10am to 3.30pm
During winter months, please contact us to check opening times.
Will Grass Hoppers open if the weather is bad?
Yes, Grass Hoppers will open on rainy days unless otherwise announced. As Grass Hoppers is an outdoor playground, it will close during the winter months.
Will we be able to buy food?
Yes, our family-friendly café in the pavilion will serve sandwiches and kids’ lunch boxes, crisps and traybakes, cold drinks, hand-crafted coffees and Yorkshire tea as well as Mr Moos Yorkshire ice cream. Woody’s hot grub serves breakfast butties until 10.30am every day and burgers, hot dogs, chips and refreshments from 10.30am to 3pm.
Prices for food and drink will vary from The Coffee Shop and Orchard Restaurant to reflect the outdoor environment and take-away style menu.
Can we bring their own food?
Only food purchased at Grass Hoppers may be consumed in the playground and signage in Grass Hoppers will clearly state this. Our menu is competitively priced and selected for the family market. Customers consuming their own food will be asked to stop or leave if necessary.
What age is Grass Hoppers suitable for?
Grass Hoppers is aimed at children up to the age of 10, with a designated pre-school play area.

Will we be able to access the lake?
We apologise that the lake is not currently accessible to customers.
Is the play supervised?
No, Grass Hoppers is an unsupervised playground and adults remain responsible for children in their care at all times. Grass Hoppers accepts no liability for injuries incurred in the playground but will ensure the playground is safe and secure. Staff must report any damaged property immediately.
Will play be limited to a set time?
Play is generally unlimited. However during exceptionally busy times, we may enforce a maximum of 3 hours play based on a coloured wristband system.
Are there age and height restrictions?
The jumping pillow will have clearly-stated rules for use, including maximum numbers of children. As the play is unsupervised, play is at own risk and disclaimer signage clearly states we can accept no responsibility for injury or loss howsoever caused.
What if I want to leave and re-enter?
Children are issued with wristbands on entry, which must be worn during your visit to Grass Hoppers. You are therefore free to exit and return during a play session on a given day.
